About the Documentary If You Don't Try, Nothing Ever Happens:

In 1993, after befriending Gina Morris of the New Musical Express (and also, at the time, Stereolab), Lorelei planned a tour of England to include, among about 10 shows, performances in London, Leeds, Hull, Bristol, and Cambridge. The band had never played more than 2 shows in a row before. Almost immediately upon its arrival, things began to go awry, with equipment failures and show cancellations piling up, one on top of the next. Eventually, even the weather conspired to prevent them from getting to the last show. In spite of what might have been a negative experience, for most of the band the experience proved to be a positive one. They met some people they admired very much, and were able to see their efforts in a broader context. The documentary, shot on Hi8, comprises pre-tour interviews, direct-to-camera tour reports, post-tour interviews, concert sequences, and additional travel footage. The film showcases Lorelei's live show, and tells the story of a sometime disastrous tour and its effect on three aspiring musicians.
